Senior Jacob Smith capped off an impressive season and career for Rifle’s golf team by placing fourth at the 4A state golf tournament at Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton.

Smith shot rounds of 77 and 75 (+8) in the two-day event to finish in a tie for fourth alongside first-day leader Tyler Severin from Roosevelt and Montrose’s Micah Stangebye.

The tournament, played in cold and windy conditions, was won by Thompson Valley’s Darren Edwards who was 2-over-par for the tournament just six strokes ahead of Smith.

Jacob was joined at state by teammate Wolfgang Smith who shot rounds of 101 and 97 to finish 76th at the tournament.

With the fourth place finish Jacob will receive all-state accolades.  Both Jacob and Wolfgang were all-conference first team golfers this season.
